POOL SURROUND WITH SANDSTONE SLABS

DESIGN YOUR INDIVIDUAL BATHROOM AREA

Summer is in full swing and people are longing for some time off from the stressful workday. An undertaking that, in times of Corona, turns out to be more complicated than before. Many people therefore resort to vacationing in their home gardens. Why put up with stressful car journeys or long flights when you have your own wellness oasis right on your doorstep?

Important for the right vacation feeling in your own greenery, is a pool. To bring the Mediterranean lifestyle into your home and to stand out from the crowd, a pool with floor tiles or a pool surround made of natural stone is a good choice. Already in ancient Rome and Greece, thermal baths and elaborate bathing areas were made of natural stone. Their natural coloring forms the ideal combination with the element of water and provides an exclusive look. Get your piece of luxury home with our floor tiles made of sandstone.

Important considerations before installing a pool or pool surround.

Before you start laying out a pool or pool surround or head to a professional, you should first think about three important factors:

  • Location
  • Material or durability
  • Security

We explain why location and pool maintenance are related, which materials are particularly durable, and the role of safety in planning.

Location in the garden

The first thoughts when planning your pool should be about the appropriate location on your property. Ideally, place it in the southern part of your garden, where the sun shines the longest. This way, the water will heat up on its own and retain that heat for a longer period of time. You should also avoid proximity to large trees. For one thing, the strong roots cause problems and additional costs when digging for the pool pit. For another, leaves and branches cause regular pollution of the water. Finally, be sure to choose a spot that is protected from the wind. Again, the idea is to avoid additional pollution. In addition, you will not freeze so easily when you come out of the pool wet.

Additional tip: note the 3% slope. In this way you avoid waterlogging and condensation can drain off sufficiently.

Durability

In times when discussions about sustainable and long-lasting materials are commonplace, you should also deal with the topic of 'durability'. After all, you don't want to have to renovate or completely rebuild after just a few years. With our POSTAER SANDSTONE you have an especially durable natural product. Absolutely frost and weather resistant, it is particularly suitable for step and floor coverings in outdoor areas. Due to its high load-bearing capacity and low abrasion values, floor slabs made of sandstone are particularly durable and retain their value. In addition, sandstone is less susceptible to dirt and thus transfers less dirt to the pool. In this way, you will have to spend less time, money and chemicals for maintenance.

Safety - which floor tiles are non-slip?

That a pool means not only pleasure but also responsibility should be known to most people. Also in this respect, safety in and around the pool plays an important role in the planning. Our POSTAER SANDSTONE is thanks to its anti-slip property, the perfect material for a pool surround. Even when the surface is wet, the natural texture of the floor slabs prevents injuries caused by slipping. Another property of sandstone is its excellent thermal conductivity. The product absorbs the sun's heat and gradually releases it. In this way, you will not burn the soles of your feet on too hot floor tiles or get colds on a cold pool surround.

Complete pool vs. pool surround made of sandstone

If you want the complete Tuscany feeling in your home garden, of course, everything speaks for a pool with a lining of natural stone or an artificially created swimming lake. With this design, you clearly stand out from the standard pools made of plastic. Here, of course, the price plays a decisive role, since pools made entirely of natural stone are more costly. First, the concrete is poured, and then lined with the base plates. The special feature here is that our sandstone is suitable for permanent contact with water. The sandstones can also be used very well as design and protection elements in the shore and embankment area of a swimming lake.

If this is too costly for them in the construction, then you should "only" opt for a pool surround made of sandstone and choose the pool made of plastic. An affordable alternative, which despite this is high quality in appearance. Our POSTAER SANDSTONE, quarried in Germany, with its yellow-brown color, gives the feeling of being directly on the sandy beach. If you prefer modern and urban flair, you should choose our floor tiles in gray tones.

Cleaning & care - which cleaning agent for a pool surround made of natural stone?

In order to ensure the durability of their pool or pool surround for a long time, you should pay attention to a few things when handling natural stones.

Basically, our POSTAER SANDSTONE is a low-maintenance natural product. With regular cleaning and impregnation, you will enjoy your own wellness oasis for a long time. You can sweep away coarse dirt with a broom with soft bristles or remove it with water and a natural stone care product. This will also prevent greening of the floor tiles. Please do not use acidic cleaners and refrain from permanent use of a high-pressure cleaner. In addition, you should check the water values regularly. Keep phosphate and nitrate low and the carbonate hardness value high. This way, both the water and the bottom slabs of your pool surround will be spared from excessive bacteria and contamination. In winter, you can use road salt. Or you can resort to sand or grit. It's summertime and therefore finally time for your dream pool. So what are you waiting for?
