In 1995, Sächsische SANDSTEINWERKE received its first order for the production and delivery of ashlars for the Frauenkirche in Dresden.
As a member of the "ARGE Wiederaufbau Frauenkirche" (Working Group for the Reconstruction of the Frauenkirche), a total of approx. 15,000 m³ of new stone was planned, machine-produced and hand-worked in four construction phases up to the completion of the facade work in 2004. This corresponds to an average delivery volume of over 150 m³ per month.
The greatest challenge is posed by the eight internal piers, each with a load capacity of 1,800 t and a tolerance specification of max. +/- 1.5 mm, as well as the highly complicated dome approach plates.
The monitoring of the construction project ended for us with the moving of the last stone on the lantern on April 13, 2004.
